Announcing a new group "Erotic Literature Writers"
We now have a group for erotic literature writers! It's called "Erotic Literature Writers." Shocker there. The intention is to have a place we can peer review pieces containing sexual or erotic content and have discussions around and about such content. Join us!
Sounds like it's right up my street. I've written erotic literature in the form of short stories for a while now, and posted them up on a site in the States that specialises in such things. To find a site closer to home where I can post my rude writings may be a bonus or a curse, whichever you may think appropriate, but I'll be happy to post up one or more of my previous works to see what kind of feedback I get.
I realise it's putting my head above the parapet, but I'm a big boy now, so feel able to bat away the sticks and stones of forum approbrium if such brickbats start heading my way.
My next question is, where to post up any of my stories? Do I just post them here as replies to the announcment of the new forum? If not then please direct me to where they should go, and I'll upload a few of my more salacious tales.
Hi Bob, and welcome! You can post sexy stories in Erotic Literature Writers. I just approved your membership. In brief, the site other than the aforementioned group is PG-13. Stuff posted in Erotic Literature Writers can get much more explicit subject to the rules posted at the top of the group. If you have any question about whether material is okay, you can PM me.
I have enough problems with dialogue without navigating the complex landscape of erotica. But it‘s a lively market out there and I think it’s good to have spaces for different areas of interest. On that subject, who else thinks sci-fi and fantasy are different and it’s not right they are grouped together? Might be just me :)
Looking for some advice concerning an arc or two. I don't do erotic writing, at least, not well and there are two arcs I am considering for a few secondary characters within my MS. It is my hope to use either one, or both, to enrich character development, but I worry that one arc is just random erotica that doesn't really add to the story and the other too layered! Also, please don't ask me to post anything publicly... like I say I don't do it well! If there is anyone out there that might be prepared to help out a prude with a dirty mind who can't cope with the internal conflict, I'd be forever in your debt!
Here's my honest advice. Look more closely at the one you see as "too layered." That sounds rich. Being a writer, IMHO, is putting yourself into difficult situations, like "how am I going to sell this incredible event, make it believable?" or "the characters need to do this, but it just put a great big hole in my plot." These, I've found, are opportunities where you're grappling directly with what's real and true about people. You'll surprise yourself.
